Using the Chat Input Bar

1 min read

The chat input bar at the bottom of the screen is your control center for interacting with Torki. Here is everything it can do.

Text Input

Type your message in the text area. The input field expands automatically as you type longer messages. Press Enter to send, or Shift + Enter to add a new line without sending.

Tools Dropdown

Click the tools button (or the plus icon) to the left of the input to reveal additional modes:

  • Canvas — Activates the Canvas panel for building web apps, HTML pages, and code projects with a live preview.
  • Search — Enables web search mode so Torki will search the internet to find up-to-date information for your query.
  • Study — Activates deep research mode that breaks your question into multiple sub-queries for comprehensive analysis.

File Attachments

Click the paperclip icon to attach files to your message. You can also drag and drop files directly onto the chat. Torki supports PDFs, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, CSV files, images, code files, and plain text. The maximum file size is 50MB. Torki automatically extracts text content from documents for analysis, and processes images for visual understanding.

Voice Button

Click the microphone icon to start a voice conversation. This launches the voice companion experience where you can speak naturally with one of Torki's seven AI personalities. You will go through a brief onboarding the first time you use it.

Mode Selector

The AI mode selector sits next to the input bar. Click it to switch between Pulse, Orbit, Stellar, and Cosmos modes. Your selected mode persists across messages until you change it.
