Toolkit & Connectors
Skills
Overview
A skill is a named playbook: instructions Torki follows step by step, and the apps it uses. You find them in Toolkit → Skills, under the heading Skills Library: "Curated playbooks that orchestrate your connected apps. Turn on the ones you want — Torki runs them step by step, and every action still asks for your approval."
What it needs
Skills are available on every plan, including Free. A skill that uses an app needs that app connected.
The Library
The Library holds Torki's official skills, grouped by category, each with a Torki badge, the logos of the apps it uses, and a switch. They are all switched on to begin with. Type in Search skills… to filter by name or description.
Productivity
- Plan my week — reads this week's Google Calendar and, if Todoist is connected, your Todoist tasks, then lays out the week day by day. Needs Google Calendar.
- Capture to Linear — turns a note into a Linear issue. Needs Linear.
- Weekly status report — drafts a report from your Linear issues updated in the last seven days, and offers to save it to Notion. Needs Linear; Notion only if you want it saved.
Triage my inbox is also listed, but it needs Gmail, which Torki cannot connect. It cannot read your inbox, so switch it off if you do not want it offered.
Writing
- Draft a PRD — turns a feature idea into a product requirements document.
- Write a blog post — drafts a structured article with a suggested title.
Research
- Summarize a document — condenses text you paste or attach.
- Deep research — breaks a question into parts, searches the web and writes a sourced answer. This is a skill, separate from the Research option in the + menu.
Development
- Review code — reviews code or a diff you paste, by severity.
Planning
- Plan a project — breaks a task into phases, each with how to check it works.
The Writing, Research, Development and Planning skills need no connected app.
Run a skill
1. Type / in the message box
Type / at the start of an empty message. A Skills list opens above the box, showing each switched-on skill with its description and a badge: Official or Yours.
2. Pick one
Keep typing to filter, then click a skill or use the arrow keys and Enter. Escape closes the list.
3. Send your request
A chip reading Skill: {name} appears above the box. Type what you want — "plan my week, I'm off on Friday" — and send. The skill applies to that one message; the × on the chip removes it before you send.
While a skill runs you see its steps, such as "Reading this week's calendar". If a step needs an app you have not connected, it is marked as skipped with the reason, and the answer says so rather than guessing. Anything that writes still shows an approval card.
Skills that are switched on are also available to Torki on its own, when a request clearly matches one.
Write your own
1. Click New Skill
Under Your Skills ("Playbooks you create — Torki follows them exactly."), click New Skill.
2. Fill in the dialog
- Name — for example "Weekly status report".
- Description — one line saying what it does. It is what you see in the / list.
- Instructions — the step-by-step playbook Torki follows.
- Connectors it uses — click the apps the skill works with.
3. Save
Click Save Skill. Name and Instructions are required; without them you see "Name and instructions are required".
Your skill appears under Your Skills with a Custom badge and its own switch. Use the pencil to edit it and the bin to delete it — deleting asks you to confirm, and "This can't be undone."
The Connectors it uses list shows apps from the Toolkit directory, such as GitHub, Notion and Linear. Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 are not in it; your instructions can still ask for calendar or Drive work, which Torki does if that service is connected.
