Shadow — Browser Automation
Overview
Shadow is Torki's browser automation feature, currently in beta. You describe a task that needs the web and Torki drives a browser to do it, showing you the pages as it goes.
How it works
- You open the Shadow page and describe the task.
- Shadow plans it out as a series of numbered steps.
- It opens pages and reads them, ticking off steps as it goes.
- Screenshots of what it looked at appear beside the progress list.
What it needs
Not included on the Free plan. Lite includes 5 Shadow tasks per 5 hours, Arc 30 and Zenith 150.
Shadow draws on its own allowance, separate from your message allowance, and it is not shown on the Usage page.
Get started
1. Open Shadow in the sidebar
Shadow has its own page — the Shadow item in the left sidebar, which carries a BETA badge. Asking for the same thing in an ordinary chat will not start it.
2. Describe the task
Type what you want done in the box on that page.
3. Follow along
The Progress list on the right ticks off numbered steps — Step 1, Step 2 and so on — and screenshots of the pages Shadow looked at appear as it goes.
Good to know
Shadow can open websites and read them. It cannot yet click, type or fill in a form on a page for you — those steps need a browser extension that is not available yet.
If a task never starts and the typing dots simply sit there, you are most likely out of Shadow runs, or on a plan that does not include Shadow. It does not show an upgrade prompt.
A running task cannot be stopped. The message box stays disabled until it finishes.
FAQ
Can Shadow log into a site for me?
No. It cannot type into a page, so it cannot sign in.
Why does the progress list just say "Step 1"?
Shadow sends the step numbers and their status, not the descriptions. The screenshots are the best guide to what it is doing.
Can I use Shadow from a normal chat?
No — it only starts from the Shadow page.
Where do I see my remaining Shadow runs?
Nowhere in the app today. The Usage page tracks messages, premium models, images and deep research only.
