Creating Your Account
Overview
There are four ways to create a Torki account. All of them end with a 6-digit code emailed to you, so keep your inbox open while you sign up.
What it needs
Free, and no card is required. You can upgrade later from Settings → Billing.
Get started
1. Choose how to sign up
- Email — enter your name and email address and create a password.
- Google — press "Sign up with Google" and approve on Google's own screen.
- Microsoft — the same flow with a Microsoft account, personal or work.
- Apple — the same flow with your Apple ID, including Hide My Email.
On the login screen those same buttons read "Continue with Google", "Continue with Microsoft" and "Continue with Apple".
2. If you chose email, set a password
The password needs a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, a number and at least 8 characters — the four pills under the field turn on as you satisfy them. You must also tick the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy box before Get Started will work.
3. Enter the emailed code
Whichever route you take, Torki emails a 6-digit code and asks for it before you reach the app.
Signing up with Google, Microsoft or Apple is not instant — the code step happens on those routes too. If you close the tab without checking your inbox, the sign-up does not finish.
The code is valid for 5 minutes and can only be used once. After five wrong attempts it stops working. Either way, you can request a new one. If it has not arrived, check your spam folder first.
If you have already set up a passkey or an authenticator app, Torki asks for that instead of the code.
4. Set up your profile
Open Settings → Account to add a display name and a profile photo.
Good to know
If you signed up with Google, Microsoft or Apple, you have no password, and Settings cannot create one — the Password section asks for a current password you never had.
To add email-and-password sign-in: sign out, click Forgot password? on the login screen, and set a password from the emailed link (valid for one hour). After that the Change form works normally, and you can disconnect the social login if you want to.
Your name and photo appear in the sidebar and in the app. They are not shown on a shared conversation link — a shared page shows only the chat title, the date it was shared and the messages themselves.
FAQ
My code expired. What now?
Request a new one from the same screen. Codes last 5 minutes.
I keep getting the code wrong.
After five wrong attempts that code is dead. Request a fresh one rather than retrying the old.
Can I change my email later?
Yes, from Settings → Account. It takes two codes: one to the old address, one to the new one.
Can I use the same account on my phone?
Yes. One account works on the web, on iOS, on Android and in the Mac app.
