Chat History & Search
Overview
Your conversations with Torki are saved automatically and listed in the sidebar, newest first, with a title Torki writes from the first exchange. Search looks through what was said in them, not just their titles.

Finding a conversation
Search
Click Search near the top of the sidebar (it shows ⌘K), or press Ctrl + K (Cmd + K on Mac). Type at least two characters.
Torki searches the titles and the text of the messages in all your chats, including chats inside projects. Each result shows the chat's title with a snippet of the matching text underneath, so you can see why it matched. The most recently active chats come first, grouped under "This Year" and "Older", up to 50 at a time.
- ↑ ↓ move through the results and Enter opens one.
- The expand button beside the search box, or Ctrl + E (Cmd + E), shows a preview of the conversation beside the results.
- Create New Chat at the top of the list starts a fresh chat.
Archived chats are not searched. Restore a chat from Settings → Data Controls → Archived Chats if you want search to find it.
Scroll the sidebar
Chats are grouped under Today, Yesterday and Previous 7 Days, then by month — "August", or "August 2025" for an earlier year. Each row shows when the chat was last active: a time for today, the weekday for this week, and the date for anything older. Click any chat to pick it up where you left off.
Chats inside a project are not in this list; open the project, or use search, to find them.
Managing a conversation
Hover a chat in the sidebar and click the ⋯ button on its right ("More options") to open its menu. There are six items, in this order:
- Share — generate a shareable link to the conversation.
- Rename — change the chat title to something more descriptive.
- Archive — move the chat to your archive to declutter the sidebar while keeping it accessible; restore it later from Settings → Data Controls → Archived Chats.
- Download PDF — save the conversation as a PDF. The source list from any web search is not included.
- Add to Projects — file the conversation under one of your projects.
- Delete — permanently remove the conversation.
Right-clicking a chat does nothing, and neither does a long press on a phone. The ⋯ button is the only way into that menu.
Turning history off
In Settings → Data Controls you can switch chat history off. When you do, new conversations stop appearing in your sidebar and are left out of Export Data.
They are still stored on your account. The setting hides them from your history; it does not stop them being recorded.
If you want a conversation that is never added to your history, use the Private pill on the new-chat screen instead. Even then, a durable fact you mention can still be saved to Settings → Memory.
Who can see your chats
Your conversations are not visible to other Torki users, and a conversation is only reachable by link if you share it yourself.
Torki staff do not read your conversations as a matter of course. A Torki administrator can open an account for a limited time to investigate a support issue, and every one of those sessions is recorded in an audit log.
FAQ
I know what I typed but search finds nothing.
Search matches the characters you type anywhere in a title or message, so try a shorter or more distinctive word. It does not look inside archived chats.
Does search find chats inside projects?
Yes, even though those chats are not in the sidebar list.
Where do archived chats go?
Settings → Data Controls → Archived Chats → Manage. You can restore or permanently delete them from there.
Can I delete everything at once?
No. There is no clear-all button; chats are deleted one at a time. Deleting your account removes them all.
Why is a chat missing from my sidebar?
It is either archived, inside a project, started while Chat History was off, or a private chat.
