Features
Editing Slides
Overview
The slide editor lets you change a deck by hand — its text, images, shapes, theme, slide order and speaker notes — and ask Torki to rework a single slide. Every change saves to the deck itself, so the chat card, Forge, Present and every download show the edited version.
What it needs
Available on every plan, including Free, for any deck made in chat or in Forge.
Open the editor
- From a chat deck — click Edit on the deck card. The editor opens in a panel beside the chat.
- Full screen — in that panel's header, click Expand to full screen. The editor takes the whole window, with a back arrow to return.
- From Forge — open a deck project and click Edit slides in the header.
The header holds the deck's title (click it to rename the presentation), the save status, and Present, Download and Open in Forge. In the narrower panel some of these show as icons only.
Find your way around
- Toolbar — across the top: undo and redo, Insert, text formatting, element styling, Theme and Ask Torki.
- Filmstrip — every slide as a thumbnail, down the left side, or across the top when there is not enough width. New slide sits at its start.
- Slide — the slide you are editing, in the middle. A zoom control sets Fit or a percentage.
- Speaker notes — under the slide. Open in the full-screen editor, folded away in the panel; click its heading to open or close it.
A hint under the slide tells you what to do next. It starts as "Click to select · double-click text to edit".
Edit text
1. Start editing
Double-click any text on the slide, or click it once and press Enter. The hint changes to "Editing text · Esc to finish".
2. Type and format
With text selected or being edited, the text controls come on: Font, Size, Bold, Italic, Underline, Strikethrough, Text colour, Highlight, Alignment, Bulleted list and Numbered list.
3. Finish
Press Esc, or click somewhere else.
Move and style elements
Click a text box, image or shape to select it. The hint reads "Drag to move · arrows nudge · Del removes". Drag it to move it, or drag its handles to resize it. With an element selected you can also use:
- Fill — a background colour, or none.
- Border and corners — border width (None to 8px), border colour, corners from Square to Pill, and opacity.
- Arrange — Bring to front, Bring forward, Send backward, Send to back.
- Delete element.
The colour choices start with your theme's own colours.
Add something
Open Insert:
- Text box.
- Image — Upload from computer… (PNG, JPEG, WEBP or GIF, up to 10 MB) or By URL… (an http or https image link).
- Shape — Rectangle, Rounded, Ellipse or Line.
- Icon — a set of simple icons.
Change the whole look
Theme lists the deck styles, each with its colours and fonts. Picking one restyles every slide in the deck.
Ask Torki to change a slide
1. Open Ask Torki
Click Ask Torki at the right end of the toolbar. A box headed "Change this slide" opens.
2. Describe the change
For example "Turn the bullets into a three-column comparison". Click Apply, or press Ctrl + Enter (Cmd + Enter on Mac).
3. Check the result
While Torki works, the slide reads "Torki is editing this slide…". If you do not like the result, Undo brings back the version you had — the box itself says "Undo restores the current version".
Work with slides
- Add — click New slide and pick a layout: Title slide, Title and body, Two columns, Section header or Blank. Or choose Generate with Torki…, describe the slide ("A timeline of our three launch phases") and click Generate; it uses the deck's theme.
- Slide menu — right-click a thumbnail, or use its ⋯ button, for New slide, Generate with Torki…, Duplicate slide, Move up, Move down and Delete slide.
- Reorder — drag a thumbnail to a new place in the filmstrip.
A deck always keeps at least one slide, so Delete slide is greyed out when only one is left.
Speaker notes
Type in the notes pane under the slide; it reads "Click to add speaker notes" while it is empty. Each slide has its own notes, and they are included when you download the deck as PowerPoint.
Present and download
Present plays the deck full screen. The arrow keys move between slides and Esc ends the presentation. Download offers PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF (.pdf) and HTML (.html). Both save any pending changes first.
Saving
Changes save on their own. The header shows Saving… and then Saved; Ctrl + S (Cmd + S) saves straight away. If you try to leave while something is still unsaved, your browser asks you to confirm.
If a save fails, the status becomes Couldn't save — retry; click it to try again.
If the same slide was changed somewhere else — in Forge, or in the editor in another tab — the status reads Not saved and a banner says the slide changed elsewhere. Choose Reload to take that version, or Keep mine to save yours over it.

FAQ
Why are the formatting buttons greyed out?
Nothing is selected. Text controls need text selected or being edited; Fill, Border and corners, Arrange and Delete element need an element selected.
Can I undo what Ask Torki did?
Yes. Press Undo, or Ctrl + Z.
Will the chat card show my edits?
Yes. The card, Forge, Present and every download use the same deck.
Do speaker notes show while presenting?
No. Present shows the slides only. Your notes are in the PowerPoint download.
Can I edit the deck on a phone?
The editor adapts to narrow screens by moving the filmstrip above the slide and using icon-only buttons, but it is easiest to use on a larger screen.
