What Are Projects?

Projects let you organize related conversations around a shared context. When you create a project, you define custom instructions and upload knowledge files that are automatically injected into every chat within that project. This means Torki always has the relevant background information without you having to repeat it.

Creating a Project

Click the New Project button in the sidebar (or use Ctrl + P). Give your project a name and add custom instructions. These instructions become part of Torki's system prompt for every conversation in the project, so you can define context like "You are helping me build a React e-commerce app" or "Always respond in Spanish."

Knowledge Files

Upload files to your project to give Torki persistent context. Supported formats include PDF, DOCX, XLSX, CSV, TXT, and code files. Torki automatically extracts the text content from these files and includes it as project knowledge in every chat. This is useful for:

  • API documentation you reference frequently
  • Style guides or brand guidelines
  • Technical specifications
  • Research papers or reference materials

Working Within a Project

When a project is active, all new chats are created within that project and automatically inherit its custom instructions and knowledge files. You can see the active project indicated in the sidebar. Switch between projects or return to general chat at any time.

Project chats appear grouped under the project in your sidebar for easy navigation.
