Free. The document card, its .docx download, the Canvas downloads and "Open in Google Docs" all work on a Free account; Google Docs needs Google Workspace connected in the Toolkit, which every plan includes. "Open in Word" needs Microsoft 365's OneDrive connected, and the plan comparison lists Microsoft 365 from Lite up. The request itself is one message — 25 every 5 hours on Free.

When an answer is long or clearly sectioned — a guide, a report, a plan — Torki puts a document card with it. The card downloads the document as a Word file, or puts it in your Google Drive or OneDrive and opens it there. Torki writes a long document into the Canvas panel beside the chat as well, and that panel has a download menu of its own, PDF included. For a table, picking Canvas first gets you a grid you can edit and download as CSV or Excel.

How it works, step by step

Ask for the document

Ask in an ordinary chat — Write a one-page onboarding guide for new baristas at Daily Grind, with headings for the first day, the first week and house rules. Torki writes the guide into the Canvas panel, which opens beside the chat, and keeps its message to a short note. With it comes the document card: a file icon, a title taken from the document's first heading, Document · Ready to export, a preview of the opening lines and a rough word count. The .docx button beside Download saves a Word file named after that title. Open in Google Docs creates a new Doc in your Google Drive and opens it in a new tab; Open in Word uploads the file to a Torki folder in your OneDrive and opens it in Word. If the app is not connected, Torki says Connect Google Docs to open it there — Download & Edit in Torki work meanwhile. and points you to Toolkit → Connectors.

Or download it from the panel

The Canvas panel has a Download of its own, shown while Preview is selected. Its menu offers PDF (Rendered markdown as PDF), DOCX (Microsoft Word document) and Save to Google Docs (Save to your Google Drive (requires write scope)). The panel's copy is the one you can change: edit the text under Code and these downloads use your version, while the card with the message keeps the document as Torki first wrote it. Save to Google Docs needs the Google Drive & Docs service connected specifically.

For a table, pick Canvas first

A table in an ordinary answer does not reliably come with a card, so for a table you want to keep, pick Canvas from the + menu and then ask — A table of 8 cities with their country, population and time zone. The panel opens as a grid you can edit in place, with + Add row under it. Its Download menu, headed Download as, offers CSV (The table as it is now, edits included) and Excel (.xlsx) (Spreadsheet with a bold header row). Save to beside it sends the grid as it stands to Google Sheets, or to Excel in your OneDrive, and offers to connect whichever one is missing.

Before you start

The things people hit on their first try, so you do not have to find them the hard way.

  • When the card appears

    Torki offers a document card when an answer is long — roughly 1,200 characters or more — or clearly sectioned, with four or more headings. There is one card per message at most; an answer that is mostly a table is offered as a table instead, and an answer that opens by declining gets none.

  • "Open in …" needs the app connected

    Open in Google Docs works with either Google Drive & Docs or Google Sheets connected; Open in Word needs OneDrive under Microsoft 365. Both follow your Permissions: with Google Docs Create set to Never, the card says it is switched off and links Open Permissions.

  • The file opens in a new tab

    Open in Google Docs, Open in Word and Save to Google Docs open the result in a new browser tab. If your browser blocks pop-ups, nothing appears to happen, so allow them for Torki.

  • The title comes from the first heading

    The card, the file name and the new Doc all take their title from the document's first heading, so ask for the heading you want the file to carry.
