Make a slide deck in the chat

Ask for a deck in a sentence and Torki builds a designed deck in the reply — then download it, or edit the slides beside the conversation.

Free. A deck built in the chat is a Forge project, so it draws on Forge's allowance rather than a deck allowance of its own. On Free that is the five Forge projects an account can hold at once: with five already, Torki tells you your Forge deck builds are used up and builds nothing until you delete a project in Forge. Lite, Arc and Zenith spend one Forge build per deck from 20, 60 or 200 every 5 hours. The request itself is also one message from your allowance — 25 every 5 hours on Free.

You do not have to open Forge to get a deck. Ask for one in an ordinary chat and Torki builds a designed deck — real layouts, a colour theme, charts, icons and images — and shows it in the reply as it fills in. When it is finished, the same card downloads it as PowerPoint, PDF or HTML, and "Edit" opens a slide editor beside the chat. Every deck is also a Forge project, so it is waiting in Forge too.

How it works, step by step

Ask for the deck

In an ordinary chat — no tool picked from the + menu — ask for a deck in plain words: Make me a 6-slide pitch deck for a neighbourhood coffee subscription called Daily Grind. The slide count comes from your sentence, anywhere from 1 to 20; without one, Torki builds eight. A card appears in the reply with the deck's title, a status line such as Building your deck — slide 4 of 6 over a thin progress bar, a large view of the first slide and a row of numbered thumbnails that fill in as slides are finished. Download and Edit stay greyed out until the deck is done — hovering them reads Available when the deck is finished — while Open in Forge works throughout. The deck is built on Torki's side, so you can leave the chat and come back to it.

Download it

When the last slide lands, the status line becomes the slide count — 6 slides — and Torki's short reply appears with the card. Click a thumbnail to put that slide in the large view. Download opens three formats: PowerPoint (.pptx), PDF (.pdf) and HTML (.html). The row you pick reads Preparing PowerPoint… while the file is made, and it arrives named after the deck's title. The PowerPoint file carries the words on each slide as real, editable text, and the speaker notes Torki wrote for each slide.

Edit the slides beside the chat

Press Edit and the slide editor opens in a panel beside the chat, on the same deck. Its header carries the deck's title, which you can rename, then Present, Download, an expand icon labelled Expand to full screen and Close. The toolbar under it has Undo, Redo, Insert, the font and size, bold, italic and underline, and Ask Torki; the + at the head of the filmstrip is New slide. Click an element to select it and double-click text to edit it — the line under the slide says so. Ask Torki opens Change this slide: describe the change, press Apply, and Torki redraws the slide in view, with Undo to put the previous version back. Your edits save by themselves to this deck, so the card, Forge and every download pick them up.

Go full screen, and present

Expand to full screen takes the same editor to a page of its own. The header gains a back arrow, a save status that reads Saved once your edits are stored, and Present, Download and Open in Forge with their names beside them. The full toolbar shows every control by name, Theme among them; the slides run down the left under New slide; and Speaker notes is open under the slide, where you can rewrite what Torki drafted — an empty note reads Click to add speaker notes. Present plays the deck full screen.

Before you start

The things people hit on their first try, so you do not have to find them the hard way.

  • Name Google Slides and you get Google Slides

    A message that names Google Slides or Google Drive goes to the Google Slides tool instead, which makes a file in your Google Drive — that needs Google Workspace connected in the Toolkit, and it waits on an approval card before anything is created. Naming it only to rule it out, as in “don’t use Google Slides”, keeps Torki's own deck.

  • Canvas and Research do not build decks

    With Canvas or Research picked from the + menu, the deck tool is not offered for that message. Ask for a deck from an ordinary chat.

  • Each deck is a Forge project

    It is listed in Forge and opens there from Open in Forge. On Free it is one of the five Forge projects you can hold at once, and deleting it in Forge frees that slot — and deletes the deck.

  • If the card stops following the build

    The card watches the build for a while and then stops, reading Still building — open it in Forge to follow along; the deck carries on in Forge. A build that fails says so on the card's status line, and Download and Edit stay greyed out.
