Run a skill, or write your own

Pick a ready-made playbook by typing "/" in the chat, or write your own, and Torki works through it with the apps you have connected.

Free. The library, the "/" picker and your own skills all work on a Free account, and no plan limits how many skills you write. Running one is one message from your allowance — 25 every 5 hours on Free — and the apps a skill uses have to be connected in the Toolkit first.

A skill is a playbook: a named set of steps Torki follows, usually across apps you have connected — read your calendar and your to-dos, then plan the week. The Toolkit's "Skills" tab holds Torki's own library and any skills you write, and typing "/" at the start of a chat message picks one to run. A skill gets no extra rights: its reads and writes follow the same permissions as any other request.

How it works, step by step

Open Skills in the Toolkit

Click Toolkit in the sidebar and choose Skills. The page is headed Skills Library, with Search skills… under its opening line. Your Skills comes first, with New Skill beside it and No custom skills yet until you write one. Below it, the Library holds Torki's own skills, each card showing what it does, the apps it uses and a switch. They start switched on; switch one off and it is no longer offered. Among them are Plan my week (Google Calendar, plus Todoist if you have it connected), Capture to Linear, Weekly status report (Linear, then Notion) and Draft a PRD, which needs no app at all.

Type / to pick one

In a chat, type / as the first character of the message. A Skills list opens above the composer with every skill that is switched on, each marked Official or Yours with its description; keep typing to narrow it, move with the arrow keys, and press Enter or click to choose. The / disappears and a chip reading Skill: Plan my week sits above the composer — add anything the skill should know and send. The skill runs for that one message: Torki works through its steps, reading from the connected apps first — Plan my week shows Reading this week's calendar — and a step whose app is not connected is skipped, with a line saying so rather than a guess. The × on the chip takes the skill off before you send.

Write your own

Press New Skill on the Skills tab. Give it a Name and a one-line Description, write the steps into Instructions as you would brief a colleague, and pick the apps it works with under Connectors it uses. A name and instructions are required. Save Skill adds it under Your Skills with a Custom badge, switched on, with a pencil to edit it and a bin to delete it — and it appears in the / picker marked Yours. Torki follows your instructions with the tools you have connected, and a write still waits on its approval card unless you have set that tool to Always.

Before you start

The things people hit on their first try, so you do not have to find them the hard way.

  • A skill uses what you have connected

    Skills do not connect anything. Connect the apps a skill needs in the Toolkit first; a step that needs an app you have not connected is skipped, and Torki says which one.

  • "Triage my inbox" has nothing to read

    The library includes Triage my inbox, which is written for Gmail. Torki does not connect Gmail, so that skill cannot read an inbox. Switch it off if you do not want it offered.

  • One message, one skill

    The chip clears once the message is sent, so your next message is ordinary chat unless you pick a skill again. Torki can also start a switched-on skill by itself when a request plainly matches one; switching the skill off stops both.

  • Google and Microsoft are not in the chip list

    Connectors it uses offers the apps in the Toolkit directory — Linear, Notion, Sentry and the rest — but not Google Workspace or Microsoft 365.

  • The library is bigger than four

    It also holds Write a blog post, Summarize a document, Deep research, Review code and Plan a project, grouped by category, and Search skills… finds any of them by name or description.
